It is a common component of the traditional Ayurvedic Polyherbal formulation Shaddharana Choornam, along with Plumbago zeylanica,holarrhena antidysenterica, Picrorhiza kurroa, Aconitum heterophyllum,Terminalia chebula,Berberis aristata and Cyperus rotundus, whose formulation is mentioned in Vagbhata’s Ashtangasangraha and Charaka sanhita.
