INDIAN CROCUS ( KAEMPFERIA ROTUNDA)
Indian crocus (Kaempferia rotunda Linn.) of Zingiberaceae is an important medicinal plant. Its tuber is acrid, thermogenic, aromatic, stomachic, anti-inflammatory, emetic, antitumour and vulnerary. Tubers are widely used as a local application for tumours, swellings and wounds.
Kaempferia galanga is an important medicinal plant and has been traditionally used to help restlessness, stress, anxiety, depression etc. in tropics and subtropics of Asia including Bangladesh, India, China, Japan and Indochina.
It is an important Indian medicinal herb that has a long history of use in the treatment of several kinds of human ailments including vata ailments like cough and cold, fever, headache, pains disorders, skin diseases, rheumatic diseases, arthritis, joint fractures, vertigo, wounds, gastritis, antidote for snake venoms.
