JHAMAR BEL SAMPOORN POUDHA (MERREMIA TRIDENTATA)

Merremia is a genus of flowering plants in the morning glory family, Convolvulaceae. Members of the genus are commonly known as woodroses.

In India the plant is one of the sources of the Ayurvedic medicine ‘Prasarini’, which is attributed with astringent, aphrodisiac, laxative and bitter properties. The aerial parts are used in treating haemorrhoids, swellings, rheumatic affections and urinary infections.

Description

The plant Merremia tridentata (L.) Hallier. f. have been used by the tribes in various parts of India, Bihar, Orissa , Srilanka, Western penisula. The entire plant is boiled in coconut oil and the extract is used to treat dandruff and to promote hair growth.
