KURCHI (HOLARRHENA ANTIDYSENTERICA)

Kurchi bark consist of dried stem bark of Halarrhena antidysenterica(H. pubescens). It also known as Halorrhenna. The bark of kurchi is collected from the tree by making suitable transverse or longitudinal incision.

It is widely used in Indian medicine for treating diseases viz. diarrhea, amoebic dysentery, liver disorders, irritable bowel syndrome, and bleeding piles. The plant is astringent and bitter in taste.
