Description
MYRISTICA MALABARICA
Myristica malabarica is a species of plant in the family Myristicaceae. It is endemic to the Western Ghats in southwest India. It is threatened by habitat loss according to the IUCN Red List. It can reach up to 25 m long and its bark is greenish black, smooth and sometimes reddish.
The plant Myristica malabarica Lamk. is traditionally used as a medicine and spices in food . It has important medicinal uses like Ayurvedic Medicines. It is traditionally used as anticancer, anti- Inflammatory, anti-Oxidant, Sedative hypnotics, Antimicrobial, Antifertility, Hepatoprotective and cytotoxicity.
Myristica malabarica is traditionally used for anti-ulcer, sedatives hypnotics, antimicrobial, nematicidal and as anti-inflammatory.
