Pandanus tectorius is traditionally recommended by the Indian Ayurvedic medicines for treatment of headache, rheumatism, spasm, cold/flu, epilepsy, wounds, boils, scabies, leucoderma, ulcers, colic, hepatitis, smallpox, leprosy, syphilis, and cancer and as a cardiotonic, antioxidant, dysuric, and aphrodisiac.
Pandan is a versatile plant with a variety of culinary and medicinal applications across South and Southeast Asia. It may help lower your blood sugar and relieve arthritis pain, though more research is needed.
A specimen plant for landscapes that do not drop below 55 degrees Fahrenheit, this unique plant may be grown as a houseplant in some cases. Grow in full sun where humidity is moderate to high. Water moderately and fertilize monthly from spring to summer. Water minimally during winter.
